This paper reviews the historical developments of ice storage & cold air distribution technologies and recent situation of using this technology in some developed countries, and also analyes the application prospect of ice storage cold-air distribution air conditioning system. The cold air dirtribution system have notable effects on saving energy and indoor air quality. Today this new technology is restricted in China, one of the main reason is because of high costs of terminal units imported from countries. Therefore, it has important meaning to introduce in and digest the present cold air diffuser products from foreign countries and do some research on it.This paper introduces the movement rule and parameter muneration of suirling air. Refer to the persent cold air diffuser products ,we designed some diffusers, and also made made a set of detailed experimental scheme. Ice storage & cold air distribution systems lab was built according to the requirements of low temperature air supply. Experimental study on swirling cold air diffusers has been done, and the excperimental date was analyzed. The results show that the diffuser induction ratio is strong and its resistance is weak, its yawp is low, air supply is symmetrical, there is no phenomena of dew on the diffuser, its structure is simple, its cost is low.Finally experimental study on swirling cold air diffusers is summarized, and some suggestions to further study is also given in this paper.
