Roots Blower, which is widely applied in the industry domain for each kind of gas transfer, is an important industry equipment. The impeller is the most essential part of Roots Blower, and its design and manufacture quality will affect the operating performance of Roots Blower directly. Through research of CAD/CAM technology for impeller, the design and manufacture quality of product can be greatly improved, and the operational reliability of impeller can be guaranteed.Circular profile, involute profile, cycloid profile are three basic blade profiles of Roots Blower impeller. The equation of the three basic blade profiles are analyzed and researched firstly, and selection of radial distance and axial distance ratio, calculation of area utilization factor are theoretically analyzed.The design efficiency of impeller can be largely enhanced through parametric design. In the foundation of analysis summary of the methods of parametric design, research of parametric design for impeller based on SolidWorks is developed. Idea for parametric modeling of impeller that is suitable for all kinds of blade profile is proposed, and the parametric design flow of impeller is established. Taking Visual Basic as development kit, under SolidWorks environment, function of parametric modeling of five kind of impellers, including two blade circular impeller, three blade circular impeller, two blade involute impeller, three blade involute impeller, two blade cycloid impeller, are realized.Using dynamic graphical simulation technology, the meshing situation of impeller can be effectively analyzed. The paper has studied three kind of dynamic graphical simulation technology based on SolidWorks including method of further development, method of using plug-in COSMOS Motion and method of using plug-in Animator. Taking COSMOS Motion and Animator as platforms, the meshing simulation of Roots Blower impeller is realized.Using advanced reasonable numerical-controlled technology and numerical-controlled programming method is an important condition to guarantee the process quality of blade section. The paper has studied general method of computer aided numerical-controlled programming and main points of numerical- controlled shaping techniques for impeller. In this foundation, research of computer aided numerical-controlled programming for impeller is developed, and flowchart of automatic generation of numerical-controlled shaping processing code for impeller is established. The program developed by Visual Basic has realized interactive input of processing parameters and automatic generation of numerical-controlled shaping code for impeller.
