In recent years, with the sustainable and rapid development of national economy and Asian electric power, the steam turbine industry in China is facing an unprecedented opportunity. Since the enormous gap of the steam turbine design and manufacture between the Chinese steam turbine enterprises and the advanced overseas craft brother, improving the design level of the Chinese steam turbine enterprises plays an important role in boosting up the competition of the steam turbine enterprises and implementing of our national economy strategy. This paper summarizes the rational of thermodynamic design of the flow part of steam turbine and the flow of the traditional thermodynamic design, and draws on the advanced design idea of the modularization design and the product seriation. Based upon these, according to the characteristic and developmental trend of thermodynamic design of the industrial steam turbine, this paper elicits the basic framework of the thermodynamic design, and under the guidance of the method of the software engineering concludes that software of the above framework can be realized. The accomplished test indicates that steam turbine thermodynamic design software can carry out the function of above framework and improve the design efficiency.Furthermore, based upon the concept of SDLC of the software engineering and software reengineering, together with the combination of the substantive design and developmental practice of engineering software, this paper devises the developmental process of the engineering design software to solve the widespread problem of the low reusability and visualization of the software and unfavorable implement of software reengineering in design process of engineering software.
