The rapid development of Computer Technology accelerates the application of Finite Element Method into practice. As a result, some Finite Element Analysis Systems are appearing. However, some defects exist when using FEA systems. What's more, product lifecycle management needs each product model in each stage to manage product in its lifecycle time. The product model in CAD is researched next to thoroughly, however, the product model in FEM field needs researching. According to these two points, this dissertation starts the research of the product model in FEM field, and puts forward the method of rapid variant design of part family's FEM model based on SML. The main content is as follows:In Chapter One, this dissertation discusses the situation of the FEM's application in practice and puts forward some defects when using FEA systems. Product lifecycle management needs to establish the product models in each stage while the product model in FEM field needs researching. According to these two points, it puts forward this dissertation's content and meaning. And the structure of this dissertation is given.In Chapter Two. it cites the theory structure of the rapid variant design of part family's FEM model. And the components and traits of part family's SML in FEM field are stated. It puts forward the methods to establish part family's FEM main document. FEM main document is specified. At last, the theory of the rapid variant design of part family's FEM model based on SML is given.In Chapter Three, the key technology of realizing the rapid variant design of part family's FEM model based on SML is given. The process of combining part family's FEM main document and relative part's SML to derive the part's concrete FEM document is expounded. The FEM knowledge base which gives decision analysis for establishing part family's FEM main document is specified. And it states the structure of FEM knowledge base and describes the rules in this base.In Chapter Four, according to the methods of establishing rapid variant design of part family's FEM model based on SML ,mentioned above, it develops the system of this function. And the rotor and cylinder of industrial steam turbine are taken for example to be certified in this system.Chapter Five summarizes the achievements and innovations of this dissertation and prospects the future research in this field.
