On the basis of analyzing the present states of slop stability and material damage characteristics, through damage mechanics theory, slop stability theory and soil test methods, the damage processing of slop stability is comprehensively studied and the slop stability of laterite in its damage aspect is parasailed.Confirming damage variable quantity in soil mass structure damage processing is the key to solve the problem in soil mass structure by applying damage theory. Damage development modal can be constructed after the certain of damage variable quantity. In this paper, basing on conditional Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion, the damage variable quantity is defined as the ratio of actual shear stress of soil mass structure to shear strength of soil mass. Taking changes of damage variable quantity in soil mass damage processing into consideration, damage development equation is constructed. As long as its parameters are ascertained, damage variable quantity is confirmed. The parameters of damage development equation can be confirmed through soil test. The test results of the typical laterite in Kun Ming show that under the same compaction power, shear strength and internal friction angle decrease with the increasing of water-content coefficient, cohesive force first increases and then decreases; under the same water-content coefficient, shear strength and its indexes increase following the increasing of compaction power. So the water-content coefficient and compaction power have impact on shear strength. Through normalizing and fitting the test results, the relations between water-content coefficient and damage variable equation parameters are obtained and then the damage development equation of the laterite is confirmed. On the state of limit equilibrium of laterite slop, the water-content coefficient and damage variable quantity are also on the critical state. Thus through the back calculation method, they are confirmed and slop stability is parasailed by applying critical damage variable quantity. Basing on Simplified Bishop Method, the laterite slop is drawn. Because stable calculating parameters are functions about water-content coefficient, constructing one equation of higher degree, Matlab program is made to absolve it and obtain critical water-content coefficient. Then using it in the damage development equation, critical damage variable quantity value is obtained. The calculation results show that critical damage variable quantity value is not only more than one but also different from limit safety parameters, it also increases with the increase of compaction power. So it can be used to parasail slop stability.
