Underground pipeline is an important component part of urban basal establishment. It includes water supply, drainage, gas, heating supply, telecommunications, power supply, industrial pipeline, etc. It is like the human body's "nerve" and "blood vessel", charged with the transmission of information and distribution of energy day and night. It is the material basis of survival and development of city, and known as the city's "lifeline".Along with the digital city proposed, underground pipe network GIS as an extremely important component and its own particularity (not visible), makes the establishment of urban underground three-dimensional pipe network GIS has become the focus of attention of many scholars.This paper extensively researched on the current urban underground pipe network mode, on this basis, it proposed a different design method of the urban underground 3D pipe network GIS than before. With the emerging technology of 3DGIS, takes a new route to open out 3D pipe network by the application of Google SketchUp and ArcGIS. This paper studies below contents: Introduce the actuality of underground pipe network GIS research at home and abroad, and the underground pipe network GIS's basic theory and development; A detailed exposition about the GIS 3D visualization of the development and definition, characteristic, functions and spatial data acquisition, model, structure; Combine with modeling method of urban underground pipe network and 3DGIS's definition, functions, characteristic, proposed a new method to build urban underground 3D pipe network model; Comparison of several three-dimensional model of modeling, base on the characteristics of Google SketchUp model under the ArcGIS with a seamless convergence, Google SketchUp model combine with various modules of ArcGIS( ArcMap, ArcScene, ArcGlobe), construction of an open and interactive 3D urban Underground pipe network model; base on theory and real data of Anning urban pipeline, choose C#.NET as the opening platform and ArcGIS Engine as software development kit, to build urban underground 3D pipeline GIS, and some functions such as three-dimensional roaming, integrated query, buffer analysis, functional analysis of the pipeline explosion, etc.; Summed up the research results and problems, analyzed the application prospects, and explained the question of modeling and the system need to improve to.
