Road Traffic Conflict Study

With the requirements of safety, celerity, convenience and maneuverability of passenger and freight transport enhancing day by day, Traffic safety has been the focus of the society. Black Spot analysis is an important part of traffic safety research. Locating the Black section is the first, as well as the most crucial step of improving the traffic safety condition of city roads. Once the Black Spots were confirmed, we can rate the importance of them, and take some reasonable improving measures to better the traffic safety level of the roads effectively. Black Spot, not only reduces the service quality of the roads, but also accounts for a big proportion of the total road accidents. From this point of view, advancing effective discriminating methods to guide practice, has a great significance in resolving the traffic safety problem of the city.By applying the theory of traffic engineering, traffic safety, probability and statistics, the paper complemented and perfected the existing theories and methods. And a comprehensive and systemic narration of discriminating method, which is based on traffic conflict technique, was put forward in the paper. The main research contents are as follow:Comparative analysis and inductive collection of existing discriminating methods home and abroad was present. Combined with the characteristics of roads in our country, further research on Black Spot discriminating methods was probed into.The conception of TCT was introduced. From the principle of TCT, and traffic conflicts were categorized and distinguished. Then the validity and practicability of TCT were further discussed.Based on the analysis of existing research result, some common sections were singled out. Then corresponding modeling simulating analysis was carried out to establish a reasonable and maneuverable calculating method to distinguish the Black Spot from the others.After investigation of typical sections, the date collected were analyzed and the traffic conflict discriminating method was put into practical application.
