In this paper, the application of uniform design in formula design was discussed and a formula uniform design applications was programed in code. The burning mechanism of the red phosphorus smoke agent, as well as the infrared extinction principle and the testing method of the red phosphorus smoke were analized .To enhance infrared extinction performance of the red phosphorus smoke agent, a series of basic formula were designed,taking the potassium nitrate and the potassium perchlorate as the oxidant, and the magnesium as the inflammable medicinal preparation.The influnce of electric carbon and other several kinds of additions to the red phosphorus smoke agent infrared extinction performance were also studied in the paper.Results of experiments showed that the method of the red phosphorus smoke agent formula optimization based in uniform design,can short the experiment times greatly, save researchers' manpower, the physical resource and the time, provide one kind of fast and effective new way to the red phosphorus smoke agent formula confirmation. Three groups of optimal red phosphorus smoke agent formula were choosed, in whose smoke the average value of infrared transmission in 8-14μm wave band may be reduced to less than 10% .
