With the rapid development of Chinese economy, logistics companies and logistics vehicles are increasing. Traditional traffic management is unable to meet the needs of the development of the logistics industry because of the lacking in new technology support. Based on the ARM microcontroller as the core, this paper made full use of the advantages of GSM/GPRS wireless communications technology, combined with GPS technology and voice synthesis technology, provided a method of logistics vehicle monitoring and dispatching terminal.According to this paper, the vehicle monitoring and dispatching terminal is made up of the microcontroller unit, GPS positioning unit, wireless communications unit, voice synthesis module, man-machine Interface, data acquisition and control modules. It has the function of GPS positioning data reception and analysis, wireless data transmission, receiving and sending short message, short message voice prompting, LCD display and vehicle remote-control. The real-time GPS positioning information and vehicle status data the vehicle terminals received will be sent to the control center via a wireless communication network. With the geographic information system (GIS), the control center can implement the information management, control and dispatching, cargo tracking of logistics vehicles.Based on an in-depth study of the basic principles and the implement methods, this paper implemented the hardware and software design of the vehicle terminal, as well as the joint hardware and software debugging. The issues are resolved in time, and all functions of the vehicle terminal are implemented. A design scheme is proposed for the management of logistics vehicles. The tests show that the expected requirements are achieved.
