With the development of advanced manufacturing technology, PDM and CAPP have been the important parts for the manufacturing industry to implement production automation and enterprise informatization . To solve the problem of 'information island' of traditional CAPP and make full use of powerful function of PDM to realize the process control of process design and concurrent engineering, CAPP urgently require to integrate with PDM .First, in this paper, the writer introduces the research status and development situation of CAPP and PDM, and heavy-duty machine parts processing characteristics is discussed, and the development trend and important role of CAPP and PDM integration is described.Then, based on heavy-duty machine parts processing characteristics, the writer deeply studies the functional elements of heavy-duty machine CAPP. And, based on this, the writer researches the methods for heavy-duty machine parts optimal process planning.Others, by studying on the product data structure, product structure tree, BOM data structure and contest, and interface method for PDM/CAPP integration, the writer researches the role of BOM and the integration methods of the three factors.Others, the writer in the paper briefly introduces XML, mention XML Schema,DTD,DOM and so on. Combining with PDM data storage characteristics the differences between the relational database and tree structure data is discussed. Based on this the writer studies the data exchange method and information flows.In the end, the produce data structure and contents are discussed, and an example is given for illustration the practicability of subject.
