Collaborative design and manufacturing is becoming a trend for enterprises. Thus, product information sharing technology which is the basis of collaborative design and manufacturing attracts a lot of attention by enterprises. Along with the formation of globalization market and the development of Internet, new product development usually requires that designers cooperate each other in different region with crossing-platform.This paper analyzes the importance of information sharing of product 3D model information and the research focuses on enterprise product 3D model information sharing technology. The crossing-platform scheme for product 3D model information sharing based on VRML is adopted, which includes information gathering, organizing and publishing. A product 3D information sharing and version management system which makes product 3D information sharing in different region with crossing-platform is developed. The system realized product 3D information sharing by using B/S structure in different region with crossing-platform. Besides, the paper studied the version management technology for product 3D model information.The following key problems are studied in this paper:1 Browsing technology of product structure decomposing at the beginning stage of product developmentThe paper carries out a decomposing tool of product structure. The chief director of the product divides product into several structure components. Result of disassembling is product structure tree. Development of product can be browsed in real time and visualized way under Web environment.2 Organizing product 3D model informationTaking the product structure tree as data structure based on Web, the system carries out product 3D information sharing based on Web in different region with crossing-platform. The system implements a strategy of visualized sharing approach based on the Web-based Visualized Product Structure Tree.3 Bi-directed navigation of the relation of product assembling based on Visualized Product Structure TreeProviding a kind of solution according to EAI(External Authoring Interface), Java Applet and JDBC , the paper carries out bi-directed navigation of the relation of product assembling based on VRML, strengthens connection of Visualized Product Structure Tree and customer.4 Sharing of the product 3D model version informationThe designer can visit product data in real time and keep product 3D model of multi-version consistent by controlling change of version.5 Carrying out a Prototype SystemAt last the paper carries out a prototype system under CATIA, develops gathering tool of 3D model information of CATIA product. It validates correctness and feasibleness of the solution for the formation of Visualized Product Structure Tree and version management system based on Web.
