Being major equipment for stamping forming of automobile body panels, The hydraulic structure, buffer performance, and blank holder force control performance of hydraulic press play direct impacts on the quality of products. They are also the key of the research and design of modern hydraulic press.Firstly, according to the analyses of the design requirements, a major hydraulic structure of 1250T frame hydraulic press was put forward. The schematic diagram of hydraulic system and the major hydraulic circuits were designed and determined, as well as the hydraulic action sequence and part of main parameters.Moreover, by simulated in Matlab/Simulink, problems in the original design of the throttle-buffer system, such as large vibration and noise were found. An accumulator-buffer system was put forward. The buffer performance was improved by modifying both hydraulic circuits and the inner structure of the cushion dashpot. Furthermore, the reasonableness of this system was demonstrated though the comparison demonstrates of simulation results.Then, the two-way cartridge valve was proposed to be used in the designing of a variable blank holding force (VBHF) control system. Parameters such as the length and the diameter of the restriction orifice, the stiffness and the pre-tightening force of the spring were simulated in Matlab/Simulink. Furthermore, via the complex method, optimized parameters were selected so as to improve the dynamic response of the VBHF control system.Finally, By the normal hydraulic press prototype testing, the hydraulic circuits and the hydraulic action sequence were verified. The noise and vibration were reduced. The separated VBHF control and dynamic response performance of the 1250T multi-cylinder hydraulic press were also demonstrated to meet the design the design goal.
