Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC), because of its characteristics of cleanliness and highly effective, environment-friendly, is considered as the one of the most prospects for development clean energies in the new century. At the present stage, the research on Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell had been Preliminary applied into the automobile, electron and other fields. In order to make the fuel cell improve to the highly effective stable fuel supply system, there needs to analyse its working principle, study its input and output characteristics, and explore its export control method.This article describes briefly that the problems in the characteristic and classification of PEMFC as well as the present battery research situation and promoted application firstly.In order to study the input-output characteristics of PEMFC, paper established its BP network model. The BP network model can preferably reflect the characteristics of battery input-output, accurately predict the trend of the output characteristics. But the model is merely a black box, which cannot well show the battery operating performance and has certain limitation. Through further studies on mechanism operating characteristics of battery and analyzes several primary factors which effect to the output in the battery working process: the battery electromotive force, activation polarization overvoltage, Ohmic polarization overvoltage, density polarization overvoltage and double-decked electric charge level function and the establish of PEMFC mathematical model. The majorized function from the Matlab optimization toolbox carries on the optimized identification to the model, and then does the simulation analysis to the fuel cell model in the Matlab/Simulink simulation platform. The simulation result confirms the validity and practicality.Aiming at the instability phenomenon of output voltage during run process of PEMFC, this article presents the methodology using fuzzy-PID compound controller to control the PEMFC cell outputs. The simulation result shows that the output of PEMFC can be stabilized on the expectated value with the application of fuzzy-PID compound controller, and its control accuracy meets the commerce application requirement of fuel cell.
