Dispatching automation system of power system is a huge and complex real-time computer system.Its connotation and denotation is constantly extended,which includes SCADA(Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition),EMS(Energy Management System),AGC(Automatic Generation Control),DMS(Distribution Management System),power telemetry systems and future power market technical support system.SCADA / EMS system is an important component of dispatching automation system.The paper main discusses Front-end system,which plays critical role in the SCADA / EMS system.With the demand for electricity increasing and the scale expanding constantly, power dispatching automation system is also developing continuously.Front-end system is the most front-end in SCADA / EMS system.It is the link of RTU(Remote Terminal Unit) and SCADA / EMS server,and it is the central chain communicating with RTU.Front-end system is in charge of data acquisition of the whole system, therefore it plays an important roll in building bridges between the RTU and SCADA / EMS system,so it can be said that the function of the front-end system play a vital role in SCADA / EMS system.If the link fails,or runs unsteady and unreliable,the whole system will have no data to use.Therefore,the requirement of the reliability, real-time,maintainability and scalability to the front-end system is particularly strict.The article analyses synthetically present situation and development of electric power dispatching automation Front-end system,and it describes the function which should be realized in current Front-end system.A object-oriented software system is designed which can run on various operating system platform in order to meet the customers' need from different regions and levels of electric power enterprises.A good software system should have powerful function,operator simplicity,security and stability.The system uses the way that the main process realizes the main function and run in the background,at the same time,elegant appearance human-computer interface software is designed for the users to view real-time data and communication parameters,and the interface software supports modification of communication parameters.A long-distance maintenance module is developed,which makes long-distance maintaining and test more convenient.Protocol is indispensable to Front-end system,and independent dynamic library is adopted in this protocol system, so the debugging and addition of protocol become more secure and convenient.The regular functions is described in detail,beside,a couple of advanced and distinctive functions are introduced.For example,the system supports SCADA study status that can debug RTU,channels and protocols independent of real-time running system.When the debugging is finished,the debugged RTU is connected with real-time running system,so the system is more secure and steady.Second,the system breaks the concept of regular active and standby front-end,all front-end nodes are equal,channels can be configured on a random node and the RTU can decide a main communication route by priority when a RTU receives data from many different channels.Third,if there are many RTU and channels,the front-end system supports multi-groups so that the system can have high Performance and stability,up to four front-end nodes can run at the same time.The dispatching automation front-end software system has many advantages, including powerful function,advanced designing concepts and flexible configuration, the more important is that the system is developed according to the users' requirements.The system reckons with the development trend of electric power dispatching automation,and it embodies years of working experience from me and my colleagues.The products stands on a leading posision in the field,I believe that the front-end system will contribute to the development of the dispatching automation system of Dongfang Electronics and China.
