The main developing goal of smart grid is to build a strong power grid, and it is a very important part of which to realize the high speed, security and stability of the communication network between the smart substations. Due to the application of network communication technology in the power grid is increasingly mature, the information of substation can be quickly uploaded to the main station communication network. However, because monitoring equipment in substations will generate a large amount of data, which leads to a substantial increase in the difficulty of the storage and analysis of information, coupled with no information corresponding to primary equipment names in the packet storage of current network analyzer, which causes that personnel can't analyze failure causes directly, all of which increase the complexity and difficulty of message online analysis in substation and quick diagnosis of network faults.Therefore, this paper did a deep research on the collection and storage, analysis and processing technology of substation network message.Firstly, it is introduced that the structure and the performance index of communication network online analysis and fault diagnosis and location system of dispatching automation system, and showed the hardware designing scheme of network data acquisition module and the interface board in the form of hardware structure chart.In the design of message storage device, data cleaning algorithm based on improved weighted clustering was used for preprocessing on the acquired large amounts of data,and the hardware design used embedded CPU, FPGA used as front-end data processing chip, and efficient transmission bus for PCI-E. In addition, large capacity serial hard disk and hardware compression storage technology were adopted. This design greatly improved the efficiency of mass data access, extended the time for data storage,achieving the full records of the original message.Aiming at the problem that it was difficult to analyze the messages, some information processing technology was added to the network analyzer, including information extraction, abstraction, classification and corresponding function of message.Seamless introduction of network analyzer was accomplished by one click through software designing. Then, a detailed classification of the message was given. On this basis, the actual operation steps, such as the message analysis, processing and checking,was presented in the form of the interface display. Finally, the message contents were the combined with engineering data, which verified the effectiveness of the system in practical engineering application.The actual equipment of the system was introduced in brief. Then, the case of Lianhua line-II accident tripping was given during the test run period, and the system test device in the accidents during the operation, and a detailed analysis of the possible existing causes of the accident was explained combined with the operation mechanism of the system. Considering the actual situation of the device during the test run period,communication network online analysis and fault diagnosis and location system of dispatching automation system was evaluated and demonstrated from three aspects: the safety benefit, economic benefit and social benefit. The results showed that the system had good engineering application value.
