Recently, nonlinear static analysis methods has attracted the attention of more and more researchers and engineers for its merits of simpleness and practicality, and become the focus of seismic research area. The method can judge in the weak links of the structural design, and can make out reliable assessment on the elastic-plastic behavior of structure, but it is impossible to provide an accurate analysis for seismic demand. In order to further improve the accuracy of its analysis results and apply to the actual project, the factors which can impact on analysis results of Push-over analysis was made further study in this paper.Firstly, this paper made a systematic exposition of research survey of nonlinear static analysis, introduced the basic theory and main of push-over analysis, and discussed advantages and some existing problems of push-over method. On this basis, lateral loading pattern and higher mode which had impact on Push-over analysis results are emphatically researched. Lateral load patterns and higher modes all affect the nonlinear static analysis results, the paper make push-over analysis of two reinforced concrete frame structure on combination mode of different lateral load patterns and higher modes by using ETABS8.4.8 softwar. Comparing the differences of analysis results under four different lateral load patterns and different layer number, and proposed new suggestions of Push-over analysis under the impacts of higher modes. Lastly,an improved method for calculating the target displacement of Push-over analysis is proposed based on equivalent single-degree-of-freedom system, which considers the contribution of the higher modes in seismic response. The analysis onThe Push-over analysis of RC regular frame structures are carried out by this improved method.and other common methods. Comparing the results of this improved method with the results of other Push-over analysis methods and nonlinear time history analysis method. The results showed that this improved method can properly consider the contribution of the higher modes in seismic response of the regular frame structure...
