Research, Evaluation System Based On Space Syntax Network City

On the Background of economic globalization and rapid development of knowledge economy, the networked characteristics in cities are more and more obvious. The theories of "Cities in Network" and "Network in cities" have been the focus of scholars already.This paper attempts to research"Network in cities" in the view of Space Syntax. Different from traditional qualitative analysis, space syntax promotes a kind of bran-new, rational and quantifiable method for research on the space of city networks. The paper promotes a evaluation system of network city construction by choosing four parameters including global integration, locate integration, intelligibility, synergy which are highly related to urban form in space syntax theory. Taking Changsha as an example, the paper analyzes the internal development potential of the city and the changing trend of its spatial structure by studying the characters of the master plans in three periods. The result of the analysis can provide decision support for the sustainable development of the urban space in Changsha. Intelligibility of the present space network of Changsha in 2009 proves the rationality of choosing Furong district as CBD. By comparing global integration of the present network with the result of Study on High-rise Layout of Changsha to find the great similarity, the paper confirms the rationality of the study.
