Every country in the world has carried out or is going to carry out polices for saving energy,for that the twenty-first century is a time that is short of energy. In china,power for lighting cost twelve percents of total power consumtion,which is the reason to push us to use lighting devices that can save power dissipations.the lighting devices of china are mostly incandescent lamps which wastes a lot of power and are being replaced by devices that are energy-saving(such as fluorescence lamps,LED etc).as a result of the high cost of LED,fluorescence lamp which is high efficient and low-cost become the ideal choice for lighting.the rectifier chip presented in this paper is the driving circuit for fluorescent lamp.This kind of chip is equiped with outer inductor,capacitor and some others electronic devices to drive fluorescent lamp.and the fluorescent lamp is the key device for power-saving in such a complete lighting systerm.in order to make better use of fluorescent for power-saving,the top-down design method is used, characteristic of fluorescent lamp is studied at the beginning of design to get a good circuit construction and set proper operating point.classical and well-developped circuit is used to design the block circuit to avoid the trouble of testing and examing resulting form the large-scale of the circuit.after the design, the rectifier chip combined power factor correction circuit with half-bridge driving circuit, which reduces the number of outer devices and the costs.also the additional protect functions ensure that fluorescent lamp works in the safe range and reduces the power dissipations indirectly.This circuit is designed based on the XDH10 process of XFAB of Germany, which ensure the prescision of the device model by taking use of the advanced SOI technology. The whole circuit is verified by simulating tools.
