The ecological composite wall is a new building structure system with light-weight, high-strength, energy-conservation and seismic, which adapts to the development of housing industry and reform of wall materials. Numerous experimental data show that height-width ratio makes a great impact on seismic performance of ecological composite wall, and the height-width ratio of wall has great change in the actual project. But there is some lack of the relevant research. So based on the experiment and theoretical analysis in this paper, the seismic behavior and failure mode of the ecological composite wall with straw nippy blocks have been researched. The impact of height-width ratio to the failure mode and ultimate shearing capacity of ecological composite wall has been mainly researched through the comparative analysis with other ecological composite walls. The main research contents are summarized as follows:1. A group of 1/2 scale model of ecological composite wall with straw nippy block is tested under low-frequency cyclic loading in this paper. The seismic performance of it, such as failure mode, shearing capacity, deformation, ductility, dissipation and so on, are mainly researched.2. With comparative analysis on failure mode of the ecological composite wall with different height-width ratio, the determination method of failure mode has been proposed based on the parameter of height-width ratio. Combination with the range of the deformation, ductility and dissipation of walls with different failure modes, which is the auxiliary parameters for determination theory of failure mode, and the determination of failure mode for the walls is further improved.3. With comparative analysis on seismic performance of the ecological composite wall under horizontal reciprocating load with low period with different height-width ratio, the impact of height-width ratio on failure mode, shearing capacity, deformation, ductility and dissipation of ecological composite wall is mainly discussed. With linear regression analysis, the correction formula of ultimate shearing capacity based on the parameter of height-width ratio is proposed, which has higher accuracy compared with original formula.
