The design technology of aero-engine measuring system is one of important research contents in the measuring area during the development of an aero-engine. The design quality of measuring system is directly related to the safety of engine testing, related to the analysis and evaluation of technical status and technical parameters of engine and therefore becomes one of crucial factors for the successful development of an aero-engine. Making systematic and deep researches about the design method of engine measuring system as soon as possible and developing a good quality measuring system which can meet the requirements from the development of aero-engine, meanwhile, with a good balance among high technical level, safety, realizability and cost, are of great importance.On the basis of the design requirements of the measuring system from the development of a certain aero-engine, this paper firstly introduces the overall technical project of the measuring system, including measurement arrangement, measurement requirements and measuring methods. Based on the selected measurement items, the researches about the selection of sensors and measuring methods are made, and at the same time, measurement arrangement is discussed and analyzed in light of the structural features of engine components, and then the location and mounting style of sensors are determined. Secondly, the demonstration results of the measuring system in performance testing of a certain engine are provided in this paper. According to the requirements of parameter record and display, measuring channels and instrumentation are arranged and by means of engine testing, the agreement between the actual performance of the measuring system and its design goal can be checked and demonstrated. Finally, the discussion and analysis about the application in component testing of infrared-based temperature measurement and the measurement of the gap between blade tip and casing is made, which lays a good foundation for the engine testing. The results of engine testing indicates that the design method and overall technical project of the measuring system given in this paper are successful and the measurement requirements from a certain aero-engine testing can be fully met by the measuring system designed in light of the method and the overall project. Not only making its contribution to the development of a certain aero-engine, the achievements in this paper are but also helpful to the design or improvement of other measuring systems used in types of aero-engines in-service or being developed at present with its novel design idea and even the direct research results, and hence are of high economic benefits and wide application potential in engineering field.
