Study on Genetic Parameters and Interrelationship of 14 Important Quality and Yield Traits in Spring Wheat Strains with Good Quality Seven new spring wheat strains were chosen, which were planted in Huangyangzhen,Wuwei region in 1999, to evaluate and analyses genetic parameters and interrelationship of 14 important quality and yield traits including genetic variation coefficient. broad heritability~ genetic correlation coefficient., broad correlation heritability, etc., and probe the method of multiple selecting for economic traits of spring wheat as well . The results are shown as follow: (1)Broad heritability of SDS-sedimentation value is high (75.81%) for which direct selecting is effective, but its genetic variation coefficient is low (5.22%) and its average performance is common (3.5918%). In order to improve and increase SDS-sedimentation value of the population, new germplasm materials with high SDS-sedimentation value should be introduced. Gluten index holds high broad heritability(87.43%) and genetic variation coefficient (25.97%), and is correlated positively on genetic with SDS-sedimentation value , and is the major cause of divergence of SDS-sedimentation value. (2)Four characteristics, including flour proter content, grain protein content, dry gluten content and wet gluten content, possess medial genetic variation coefficient and high broad heritability and positive genetic correlation and phenotypic correlation between them are significant, and phenotypic correlation is mainly caused by genetic factor. It is economical and effective to use grain protein content in early generation and flour protein content in late generation as selective trait. (3)Correlation analysis suggests the presence of genetic contradiction between yield traits and quality traits, which comes mainly from that between yield traits and protein or gluten quantitative traits. Correlation analysis between protein yield and other traits and path analysis on protein yield show that main factors, which influence protein yield, are biomass, grain number/plant and protein content, and being compared with direct selection for protein yield, effectiveness of using them as selective traits to indirectly select for it is higher, but protein content is the main limiting factor arid selection criterion for it should not be too high 31 Multiple selection which include the three traits anu important processing quality Waits such as SDS--sedimentation value, alveograph parameters and so on will possibly increase yield while improve quality traits, therefore, easily?getting strains whose economic traits are good. (4)Seven new spring wheat strains were assessed and chosen by important traits above. The results show that strain 032 possess the best yield and quality traits and is a hopeful one or at least. an excellent germplasm material, and strain 342 and 512 possess better yield and nutrient quality traits, but their processing quality traits are common, therefore, they may be improved easily and should be used as germplasm material, and other strains should be discarded or be further observed because of their indifferent performance.
