This study was estimated breeding values and genetic parameters by animal model using DFREML. Records of performance data were obtained from 1050 heads of Red Steppe breed tested at SanJiaZi Breeding Farm in TongYu City him Province between December 1988 and December 1994. The results obtained in this study are summarized as follows:1.The means of Red Steppe were 33.04?.10kg for birth weight, 126.40?18.94kg for body weight at 6 months, 252.34?2.81kg for body weight at 18 months, 108.30?.05cm for withers height, 113.59?5.39cm for hip height, 121.69?.91cm for body length, 40.48?.96cm for rump length, 151.92?1.34cm for chest girth, 16.22?.36cm for shank circle, 87.27?.13cm for leg girth.2.All fixed effects were statistically significant for the traits studied(P<0.05).3.Sex had significant influence on all traits studied (P<0.01). For each trait males were superior to females.4.The effect of year of birth was not significant for each traits, the effect of months of birth influenced all traits studied significantly.5.Heritability of Red steppe were 0.36 for birth weight, 0.36 for body weight at 6 months, 0.25 for body weight at 18 months, 0.40 for withers height, 0.33 for hip height, 0.42 for body length, 0.56 for rump length, 0.37 for chest girth, 0.59 for shank circle, 0.56 for leg girth.6.The genetic correlation were 0.49 between birth weight and body weight at 6 months, 0.60 between birth weight and body weight at 18 months, 0.55 between body weight at 6 months and body weight at 18 months. The genetic correlation between body weight and body measurement at l8months were from 0.56 to 0.99.7.Breeding values of sire are different by sire. This study that number 3615 Breeding values of sire are high at traits, second is number 4009.
