Objective To study of relationship between serum PSA levels and benign prostatic hyperplasia with age, prostate volume, post-voiding residual, IPSS and QOL score . Methods Retrospective analysis of Urology, Affiliated Hospital of Ningxia Medical University from January 2005 to December 2009 and during the treatment of 323 cases with surgical pathology confirmed benign prostatic hyperplasia clinical data ,including age, serum T-PSA, F-PSA, IPSS and QOL score, measured by abdominal ultrasonography before and after prostate diameter, about diameter, vertical diameter value and the post-voiding residual. Depending on the level of serum T-PSA subjects were divided into three groups:A group of T-PSA<4 ng/m1, B Group 4 ng/m1≤T-PSA≤10 ng/m1, C group T-PSA>10 ng/m1, the dataof 323 cases will be included in the above three groups, respectively, of which A group of 197 cases, B group 89 cases, C group 37 cases.Statistical analysis using SPSS11.5 software, in each group were analyzed using linear correlation of serum T-PSA and F-PSA and patient age, prostate volume, post-voiding residual, IPSS and QOL scores were calculated. Results In the T-PSA<4 ng/m1, the serum T-PSA, F-PSA and patient age was positively correlated (r = 0.142 and 0.267, P all<0.05); and patients with prostate volume was positively correlated, and significant differences (r = 0.149 and 0.245, P all <0.01),; and Residual urine volume was a positive correlation (r = 0.209 and 0.150, P all <0.05),with patients IPSS score was a positive correlation (r = 0.494 and 0.413, P all<0.05); and QOL score were not correlated (r = 0.21 and 0.26, P all>0.05). In the 4 ng/m1≤T-PSA≤10 ng/m1,the serum T-PSA and prostate volume with age was positively correlated, and there was significant difference (r = 0.399 and 0.387, P all<0.01); serum F -PSA and patient age and prostate volume were positively correlated (r = 0.388 and 0.364, P all<0.05); serum T-PSA, F-PSA and the patients residual urine was positively correlated (r = 0.268 and 0.237, P all<0.05); and IPSS score were positively correlated (r = 0.368 and 0.273, P all<0.05); and QOL score were not correlated (r = 0.25 and 0.37, P all>0.05). In the T-PSA>10 ng/m1,the serum T-PSA, F-PSA and no correlation between age of patients (r = 0.008 and 0.040, P all>0.05); with a positive correlation in patients with prostate volume, and there significant difference (r = 0.351 and 0.336, P all<0.01); with a positive correlation in patients with residual urine, and there are significant differences (r = 0.302 and 0.206, P all<0.01);And patients no correlation between IPSS score (r = 0.107 and 0.256, P all>0.05); and QOL score were not correlated (r = 0.14 and 0.63, P all>0.05). Conclusions 1, the T-PSA<4 ng/m1, the serum T-PSA, F-PSA and patient age, prostate volume, residual urine volume and the IPSS score was positively correlated; and QOL score were not correlated. 2, 4 ng/m1≤T-PSA≤10 ng/m1, the serum T-PSA, F-PSA and patient age, prostate volume, residual urine volume and the IPSS score was positively correlated; and there is no correlation between patients' QOL score. 3, T-PSA>10 ng/m1, the serum T-PSA, F-PSA and prostate volume in patients, residual urine volume was positively correlated, and no correlation with the patients' age, IPSS score and QOL score.
