Partâ… Changes in Histamine H2, H3 receptor expression in rat medial vestibular nucleus after unilateral labyrinthectomyObjective To observe the change in expression of histamine H2,H3 receptor in rat medial vestibular nucleus (MVN) following unilateral labyrinthectomy (UL). Methods The immunohistochemistry, Western-blot techniques were used to observe the changes in expressions of histamine H2, H3 receptor following unilateral labyrinthectomy and investigate their effects on vestibular compensation. Results Our results demonstrated that H2, H3 receptors were presented in the MVN, there was a decrease of H3 receptors in the ipsilateral MVN at the 1st day after UL,the change turned into the normal value at the 7th day, and there was no change in histamine H2 receptors expression in ipsilateral MVN.Conclusion Our study suggests that change in expression of H3 receptor in the MVN was most probably involved in the early stage of the vestibular compensation process, while H2 receptor in the MVN was probably not involved in the vestibular compensation process. Partâ…¡Changes in Histamine H2, H3 receptor expression in rat flocculus after unilateral labyrinthectomyObjective To observe the changes in expression of histamine H2,H3 receptor in rat flocculus following unilateral labyrinthectomy (UL).Methods The immunohistochemistry, Western-blot techniques were used to observe the expressions of histamine H2, H3 receptor after unilateral labyrinthectomy and investigate their effects on vestibular compensation. Results Our results demonstrated that H2, H3 receptors were presented in the flocculus, and there was a significant increase in histamine H2, H3 receptor expression in ipsilateral flocculus at the 1st, 3rd and 7th day, the change turned into the normal value at the 30th day. Conclusion Our study suggests that change in the expression of histamine H2, H3 receptors in the flocculus were most probably involved in the vestibular compensation process.
