Tibetan heroic epic"Gesaer"is an encyclopedia on culture in ancient Tibetan society and has become what it currently is after going through a long process of accumulation evolution. It contained histories over many centuries and covers all kinds of things and has had an invisible but significant impact on inheritance of Tibetan culture. This theme chosen for this essay is going to make an attempt in discussing this historical phenomenon and reveal"Gesaer"'s role as an existing educational material in cultural enlightenment."Gesaer"has an irreplaceable part to play in enforcing, inheriting and developing traditional core culture in Tibetan areas. Hence, choosing this theme is intended to highlight the function of education and cultural enlightenment of"Gesaer"in this new century and use a critical attitude to absorb the positive elements from this epic. In the meantime this paper is to propose some worthwhile suggestions for development of its traditional education role using means of communication media, intended to better spiritual and material development.The first part: prefaceIt mainly talks about"Gesaer"s enlinetenment and education function as an existing folk culture from the perspective of why this theme is chosen for this essay and its current status both internationally and at home and the role played by"Gesaer"on formation of young people's personality in Tibetan areas;The second chapter:It is about"Gesaer"'s status among local Tibetans. The main reason why"Gesaer"is passed from generations to generations is it's well received and liked by local Tibetans. This land is fertile for keeping this long epic in good condition. This epic is a unique achievement in arts. When talking about the uniqueness in its artistic style, this paper has to reflect on the status of this epic in Tibetan areas. With all this as its basis, this paper talks about future and its passage of"Gesaer".The third part: the role played by"Gesaer"as a culture enlightenment force on young generation in Tibetan areas;Tibetan heroic epic"Gesaer"has an outstanding effect of culturally enlightening people in reality. It's integrated into everyday life, education, religion and folk culture, and is deeply rooted in Tibetan people's psychology and ideology, etc; The ideas that can be discovered in this epic are deep and philosophical and they not only have an important impact on production and life in old times, but also have a significant meaning in instructing human society at present."Gesaer"is a rich legacy that's left behind by former generations and a proof of big contribution to China's overall culture by Tibetans. Descriptions of myths, legends, diets, and life in"Gesaer"in oral form and documentaries have a big influence on young generations'language, beliefs, healthy growth, and personality formation. There is no doubt that these essential traditional culture influences are valuable in constructing spiritual development of socialism. It's an education resource especially in market economy today.The forth part: The role that is played by"Gesaer"as an education enforcer in Tibetan areas;As an important form of Tibetan traditional education,"Gesar"not only plays a significant role in helping preserving Tibetan culture, but also has an far-reaching impact on the current Tibetan education. Focusing on this particular socio-cultural phenomenon, this paper makes attempts to reveal the effect of"Gesaer"as educational and teaching material. Therefore this paper is intended to emphasize the fact that full use of"Gesaer"should be made in current times to educate people; at the same time, critically use the instructive contents of"Gesaer"to further improve Tibetan society both in material and spiritual development.The fifth part: pursuing the question of combination between traditional folk culture represented by"Gesaer"and young generation's education in Tibetan areas;Having analyzed excellent traditional works such as"Gesaer", dependence on passage in the form of telling-and-listening is far from enough to accomplish the task of adaption to speedy economic globalization and information internet and other challenges raised in current world, and fully display its own unique qualities to outside in a brand-new fashion. Other measures have to be implemented and this kind of traditional education resource has to be edited into textbooks, movies and plays on stage and let it be integrated into school education. In other words, proactively answer to the problem of making movies from"Gesaer"and enable it to have more social benefits and more fully study the problem of bringing"Gesaer"on stage and make it play a deeper role in education."Gesaer"is to be edited into series of simple textbooks for both primary and middle school students and let the young generation have a good chance of receiving traditional education. With combination of essential part of"Gesaer"and modern civilization, construct a cultural system of socialist modernization with its own characteristics.
