The purpose of public art education in common high schools is to improve the university students' ability of appreciating beauties and expand theirs' cultural field of vision, through studying music. Currently, the public art education in common high schools of our country is still in the developing condition which needs to be made perfect. Therefore, bringing the minority folk in it is not only an advantageous way to spread the national music, but also a beneficial exploration for the public art education in common high schools.This thesis includes three parts, which are introduction, text and conclusion in all. The introduction elucidates the original purpose, significance, innovations and research method on the basis of asking questions. The text divides into three parts. The first part expounds the unique cultural value of the minority folk . The second part demonstrates the function of minority folk . during the public music education in high schools. Analyzing the minority folk' s actuality of public art education in common high schools, the third part reveals the main problem existed in minority folk currently, and raises the author's viewpoint and thinking.The conclusion of this thesis is that the minority folk with its unique cultural value and art charm becomes an important part of Chinese music culture. The minority folk education of public art education in high schools does not only depend on setting up a few minority folk conspectus or appreciation lessons. Its development also needs common concerns among the educational circles and social public, even the support of related government sections and national policies.
