Different cultures or areas leave offspring different kinds of cultural relics that should be well-recognized, especially in the wave of globalization. If China, again, wants to keep herself in the foreground of this wave, she must find a way to show the world something attractive. Thereupon, the Chinese have no choice but to accept and adopt others' cultures.The paper firstly introduces some most famous translation theories of three great translators, such as the equivalent effect of Peter Newmark, dynamic and functional equivalence of Eugene A. Nida's and perlocutionary effect of Leo Hickey to build a theoretical basement for the possibility of Chinese-English Translation. This is a part which mainly explains the understanding of these three great translators of the translation. From the analysis of the ideas, we can find out the exact understandings of the three great translators. Do they think the translation is possible? What kinds of materials are easy to be translated? What principles should the translators follow as they are translating?In the second part, the paper supplies us some information about the current situation of this special field to propose the existing problems in the field by comparing different expressions of the same cultural relics between Hubei Provincial Museum and other museums (mainly in HPM). The choices of words, sentences and paragraphs all show the differences of Chinese and English cultures that inevitably adds some troubles in the process of Chinese-English translation. There may be many examples that are collected to intensify the aggravation of troubles in this part. Those are the examples from the Exhibition Hall of Marquis Yi of Zeng and the Exhibition Hall of ceramics.The paper focuses on the differences of the versions. The differences of the translation are various that some may mislead the visitors as they read the English version solely. Therefore, after the critical understanding of those translations, the paper also gives new understanding of its own. However, the modification of the translation is not a good way to solve the problem thoroughly. There are some methods that are cited to analyze and solve the problems accompanied with their appearances.The third part introduces many reasons and factors that lead to the differences both from the angle of Chinese culture, Western culture and the angle of subjective omissions. That's the hamper in the way of translation and understanding. The culture differences mainly indicate the cultural gaps, such as different regions, different believes, different histories, different linguistics, different customs, etc. Compared with the insufficiencies of special training, these are the objective reasons which make the communication much harder to be understood.In the fourth part, the paper not only gives readers a clear definition that whether the Chinese-English translation of the text of cultural relics is possible or not, but also lists some techniques to deal with the problems in the translation process. At the. same time, the techniques testify the possibility in reverse. In this part, there is a clear claim of the author that the background information of cultural relics should be taken into consideration as translating.The last part is a conclusion to emphasize that there are still a few people invested in this field and there may be many culture gaps between the source language and the target language, but generally speaking, any languages can be translated into other languages and should be translated if necessary.
