The style of menswear is preferred to be tight and slim in recent years, based on the trend that this paper put forward the new concept and theory of "slimnism" for menswear, which is interpreted as a way of thinking and the design method, or even a life attitude and lifestyle, formed in the aesthetic principle of "slimnism". The ultimate goal is to be able to form a theoretical system of design trend and genre.At the same time, this paper made a fuzzy clustering and recognition for "slimnism", using the Unsupervised Classification, by analyzing the slimnism menswear from the circumference and longitude. This paper concludes two aspects:(1)The performances of the "slimnism" style in the modern menswear design①From the perspective of history, this paper pointed out the concept of closer garments, appearing in the European men's clothing, in the seventeenth century, and the lean mode showing in the men's top-wear in the whole eighteenth century. Based on that, the origins of the "slimnism" style and the cultural identity and social performance are deeply stated. In the post-modernism context, this paper illustrated the original cause of the "slimnism" menswear design, by analyzing the impact of rock sub-culture and the feminism on the choice, heritage and the derivatives of the "slimnism".②This paper described the trend and the performance features of the "slimnism" in the modern menswear design, and comparative analyzed it with the traditional, neutral and feminizational style.(2) The applying of the "slimnism" style in the modern menswear design①From the spreading point of view, this paper interpreted the mass communication methods with network and spreading the characteristic of "anti-system", "non-mainstream" and so on. The consumers of the "slimnism" menswear, being the objects, are researched with their consumed psychology, consumed behavior and their way of life. The paper also pointed out that these consumer groups have been owned the characters as diversified, integrated and pan-regional.②On the foundation of the "Rock" high emotional thinking, the design methods of the "slimnism" menswear was interpreted from the various forms of space and design elements. What's more, based on the property of men's top-wear, this paper analyzed the structure of the "slimnism" menswear, by controlling the measurements of Bust Girth, Waist Girth, Shoulder Line, Sleeve and so on, and then made the pattern useing CAD.Against the background of the internationalization in the apparel industry, only the quality and the innovation can't own the advantage for the continuous competition, but the systematic, strategic and individual brand diversity are the key points to win the competition in the market position. In addition, the subdivided of products has become a major trend of the apparel industry development. So the general division for the product style is difficult to meet the market and consumers'demands. By enlarging and refining the new design trends of menswear, this paper put forward the design ideas of "slimnism" for the first time, which made a more systematic summary for the new design theory. At the same time, the paper researched the design methods of the "slimnism" menswear, the consumers' psychology and behavior, in order to provide some experience for the brands and businesses to dell with the market issues, such as the market segmentation, individuation, and differentiation etc..
