No matter what idea's generation and development is related to the socia l realityand the genera l trend of ideology and culture inevitably. There are the reflections inthe ideology and theory about the preva iling politica l situation and socia lculture, which just are the theory need of of socity.Chen Liang who lived in SouthernSong Dynasty ,was a famous thinker. He was the founder of eastern Zhejia ngYongkang school and the lead ing figures of the academic circle. He advocated theLearning of utilitarian and once debated with Zhu-Xi on the problems such askingcra ft or force control, justice or benefit. The times of he lived, the country wasdivided some parts. The socia l contradictions were acute and complex. In theideologica l and cultural fields, the given Socia l and cultural background as the reasonof the learning of utilitarian.Cheng Liang's Learning of utilitarian had theory sourse.Itderived from traditiona l confucia nis- m and developed it,and then proposed his theory. His learning of utilitarian had deeply basis on ontology. In order to build his basison ontology, firstly,he put forward new materia listic expla nation on tradtiona lDao".He overthrew the tradtiona l"Dao"and reverted the"Dao"from subjuctive andtranscendental matter to objective and experiential matter. He thought that the matterall of the world was objective, then,he pointed out that the"Dao"was nottranscendental matter or subtle domination. He thought that the only existense was thematter and the"Dao"also existed in the matter can't without the matter. The"Dao"was the rule of the matter. So, the"Dao"was't without our daily life, but existed in ourlife,if without our life, the"Dao"was not the so-called"Dao". Proceeding from thelearning of the nature of natural ma n ,Chen Liang put forward the theory that materia ldesire was just the the nature of the huma n and refused the view which thoughtseeking materia l desire as evil.Chen Liang pointed out that mora lity must build up onthe basis of material desire. So,the huma n common desire was the basis of mora lity.By the reason of the academic status and politica l crisis of Southen Song Dynasty,Chen Liang paid attention to the resolution of the reality. When he browsed skeletonof the traditiona l mora l thought,he put forward his learning of utilitarian. On the process of debating with Zhu Xi,he refused Zhu Xi's views and illumina ted his views. On the problems of controlling by kingcra ft or force, Chen Liang thought that bothhad the same goal.He thought that administering country must make use of two andthe kingcra ft rely on force to accomplish its goal. On the problems of justice orbenefit,he deserted the traditiona l view which valued justice, public, motive but ignoredbenefit, ind ivid ual, result. He paid attention to not only the justice but also thebenefit. He thought that both pla yed the same important role.On the basis of the abovementionedviews,he put forward the philosophy of life in order to refuse Zhu Xi.Hisgoal just let a person become arightous, sentient, vivid, heroic person.Chen Liang'sthought embodied keen realistic spirit and the need of resolving the socityproblem,a nd there was his distinct character.Chen Liang's thought was spreaded widely and founded Yong Kang school whichChen Liang was the leader. The influence of his thought was far-reaching not only inthe times which he lived but also Ming and Qing Dynasty.Chen Liang's thoughtactually reflected a society reform thought which based on the country's developmentand unity. His thought overturned traditiona l thought which just emphzsized mora litybut ignored realitic accomplishment. His thought embodied an utilitarian spirit.Histhought looked like a thunder in that times. No matter what in that times when he livedand now,his thought has important historic and unnegligible value.
