With the development of market economy and the deepening of market reform, the process of peasant division in our country is speed up. The commune members who are highly homogenous in the past had divided into many classes of different quality. This process of division brought great effect to all aspects of rural areas and changed the nature of the rural community. In this context , in order to study the development of the popular culture in rural community, we must think about the peasant division as a important structural factor. And it is necessary to research how peasant division affects the dissemination process of Television Culture in our rural community. Early research had realized this problem, but had not took it seriously.On the base of previous studies, using many research methods such as structured interview and questionnaire research, this paper studied the problem of how peasant division affects the dissemination process of Television Culture in our rural community.Although the peasant division had been generally accepted in the academic, there are many disputes on how to divide peasant into different classes. Integrated Chinese and foreign scholars in the social stratification theory, combined with the actual site survey, this paper introduces vocational - economic, cultural level, the political status of farmers to diagnose the situation of peasant division. And on the base of each dimension, famers are further divided into elite and non elite .For the special relationship between the rural social elite and the the cultural products , this study focused on analyzing how the elite affects the dissemination process of Television Culture in our rural community. In accordance with the three dimensional criteria for the classification, this paper analyzed how three groups (the political elite group, the economic elite group and the cultural elite group ) affect the dissemination process of Television Culture in our rural community. Instead of a detailed classification and analysis about the non-elite group , there is only a whole analysis.Therefore, this article examined how the peasant division have been, are or will impact the dissemination process of Television Culture in our rural community, and focused on the emerging elite in rural society (including the political elite , the economic elite and the cultural elite). Further , this paper analyzed the relationship between the peasant division and the development of mass media in rural community, and discussed it's opportunities and challenges .
