On the subject of culture teaching in foreign language education, while theoretical study has been improving, the implementation of it is still problematic. Especially, culture teaching content in current foreign language textbooks is far from systematic enough, which has been a major hindrance to effective culture teaching in china. At the same time, college students are at a crucial moment of building their world views and outlooks on life, and system content for culture teaching is crucial to the improvement of cultural quality and moral cultivation of college students. Consequently, the study on the systematicity of culture teaching content is extremely important and necessary for it caters to the development of educational study and the demands of the present situation. Moreover, the analysis results concluded from this investigation can serve as references in textbook compilation and benefit college teachers in their culture teaching. What's more, the author hopes it will bring more attention of domestic educators on the study of systematic teaching content and other aspects in culture teaching, enriching and developing theoretical studies on culture teaching in foreign language education.This study is mainly based on Zhang (2007)'s theories on the systematicity of culture content in culture teaching. Zhang thinks that culture teaching should be systematic in two aspects: the systematization of cultural content and conduction process,and the former is the focus of the study in this paper. With a combination of qualitative and quantitative research method, the author first of all carries out a questionnaire investigation on the culture teaching situation in colleges and cultural materials in textbooks, and interviews are also designed to explore into the important issues on culture education in college English Teaching. After the data collection, the author makes a scientific analysis of them via Excel and some computer software. Some findings are made on the rules to better understand and improve culture education, which inspires the author to put up with her constructive ideas to improve the systematicity on culture teaching material in CET.The findings of this study are mainly about three aspects: (1) cultural presentation in current textbooks tends to be fragmented, superficial and one-sided. The arrangement of culture materials is not systematic enough, and most of them are too simple and mainly about foreign culture rather than home culture;(2) though the importance of culture education has been widely acknowledged, the awareness of both college students and their teachers to culture itself, objectives, content and other aspects for culture teaching in CET tend to be quite limited; (3) a systematic culture syllabus is highly demanded in CET of present time. Before its establishment, the author recommends the two-division of culture in explicit culture vs implicit culture and home culture vs foreign culture as one referential criterion on systematicity in the arrangement of culture teaching content. And she also puts up with a constructive system of cultural teaching content targeting culture education in college English teaching.
