Lawrence is one of the most famous fiction writers in the 20th century of England; He employed exquisite and vivid language in his works, which also attracted us by their bold and positive contents. Commentary research on his production involves each domain of his books, but unfortunately, the systemic research of the masculine images in his works has slightly been insufficient. Ten novels created in his short life span, Lawrence illuminated his writing style in the six pieces of works like Sons and Lovers, Rainbow, Women in Love, Kangaroo, Feather Snake and Lady Chatterley' Lover, which are presently taken into my essay as examples for my systematic research on the masculine characters figured by him.Lawrence described a myth character of the ancient Indian Aztec major god—Kerscaraido in Feather Snake to, completely, settle his understanding and expectation into a perfect masculine image which unified the spirit and the human body. During the figuring of this ideal masculine character, whose image progressed from the weak of spirit and human body to the opposite of them, and finally to the unifier of them, Lawrence carried out his unceasing practice and exploration. To varying degree, these masculine characters reflect Lawrence's experience and his pursuit; meanwhile show us the fetters and restrictions deep from himself when he portrayed these images, which finally were figured out in perfect unification of masculine spirit and human body by his unstoppable mood to pursue his ideal.Lawrence's thought was complex, his innermost feelings had been filled with ideal and contradiction, and that leaded him into erroneous zones while fulfilling his ideal. However, his works are able to, at all time, bring us faith and belief that through the untiring effort, we human will gain, for sure, a more perfect and happier life.
