Study On New Words

Since the reform and opening-up policy was brought out in China, the new words that reflect the updated developments and changes of Chinese society have been come into being at an unparalleled speed, which arouses a lot of attentions of people. vocabulary is one of the three elements of language. New words, as the most active element, becomes the most important area for research language is developing emergence of new words and changing as the society is. The reflects changes of the society especially the always the developments and updated ones.The new words mean those which reflect new things, new conceptions, new thoughts and appear in spoken and written language recently. The time refered in this paper is about 30 years, from reform and opening-up to nowadays. These new words and phrases are mainly originated from some loanwords, idioms, specialized words, newly created words and the old words used in a new way. The acute nessisan important characteristic in reflecting what happened or what exists and expressing the speakers idea and knowledge. The coining and using of new word and phrases is an effective way to enrich and expand the vocabulary system of the common speech of Chinese language. It is neology that enables people to communicate much more conveniently and vividly.Firstly, the author try to retrace the source of new words, the construction characteristics of the new words. Besides, the meanings of the new words have some new characteristics such as directness, vividness and the obvious phenomena of semantic extension of special words. Then the author takes new eyesight from words itself to some new realms such as social linguistics and psychology and so on. It discloses that the sophistical relationships between the production and expansion of the new words, the social development and the fundamental rules of the language. This article study the positive meaning of new words and the existing problems and discuss standardizing and guide which the related departments carry on to it.Finally, the author gives us the new view of the new words. Changes bring about renewal and development. Development must be based on some standard. On auther s opion, treating these language phenomenon tolerantly, with standardization and guide equally regarded, will be favorable to the sound development of mandarin vocabularies.
