"Tong-su-yi-xu words" is to say those two words which have completely same morphemes but different order. It is a particular phenomenon of Chinese vocabulary. It appears at the ancient times and has been developing through all the phases of the history of Chinese language, and also it is of great importance in the whole system of Chinese vocabulary.Above all, the thesis is to distinguish several sorts of "looks like but not true" words or phrases from the "Tong-su-yi-xu words" to define its limits: all the "Tong-su-yi-xu words" the thesis refers to are not only different in the sequence of morphemes but also they must to be words both, and yet they must to be the words which are double-syllable composite words composed of two completely same morphemes. On the basis of it and proceed from the present state of the "Tong-su-yi-xu words", the thesis puts it into the three-dimensional space that composed of the meaning, the structure and the use to classify it and probe into its origination, thus we can make comprehensive observation and study and conclude the rule of its development.Although "Tong-su-yi-xu words" has the rhetorical function to make Chinese vocabulary variegated and changeable as its flexible structure, some equivalent "words" are also to be the warts of the language which may bring more trouble to the learner and user, so they must to be standardized. Thus we will discuss the rhetorical function of the "Tong-su-yi-xu words" and attempt to probe into its standardization at the end. I hope that it may be of some help to pure the Chinese vocabulary.
