English teaching and education in China has made remarkable achievements since reform and opening-up. However, for a long time the examination-oriented education has been bothering the English teachers. How to develop students'oral communication competence has been a challenge for English teachers and researchers.. Studies show that interactive teaching methods break the traditional teacher-centered mode, turn students learning from passive take-in to active inquiry and truly develop their own subject. It is proved over time that the use of interactive teaching mode will further develop students' interests and build up their confidence and finally help them improve English communication skills. There are several of interactive forms of English teaching, i.e. questions and answers, free speech, role-plays, film dubbing, discussion and games, etc. It is considered very important to make a comparative study of the effectiveness of the different English teaching interactive forms and select a better pedagogy to improve the English teaching in junior high school. In this thesis, a survey has been made on the teacher frequently adopted and student-preferred interactive teaching methods by the way of questionnaires. Based on the survey an empirical research is carried out:the more popular interactive teaching methods are applied in the experimental classes while normal forms are applied in the other classes. Studies and researches show that different forms of interactive teaching will lead to different results.1. At present there has been a gap between teacher frequently-adopted interactive teaching methods and student-preferred ones.2. Different interactive forms of teaching will lead to different results due to students'preference and reaction. Considering that students are the absolute subject of the class, teachers should take the interactive form according to students learning ability, interests and language proficiency level to stimulate students interest and motivate their English learning. 3. The practice shows that the use of targeted interactive forms like acting, interviews and games can enhance the interest of middle school students, improve their spoken English and stimulate their enthusiasm and interaction. It is suggested that during the implementation, teachers should always keep their students needs, wants and likes in mind, and take the right form at the right time in the classroom.
