Regional Distribution Characteristics Of Chinese Splendid Athletes Who Gain The Olympic Medal

The number of Olympic medals directly reflects the strength of competitive sports for a country. With the national has been strength now, China is becoming a sports power in the world. But there are many problems in our sports talents training and in decision-making. How to effectively use and develop sports talent to promote the coordinated development of regional sports becomes an important research topic.Sports talents'training subject to many factors, the geographical factors can not be ignored in the training process. Natural geographical environment, humanities geography and political geography play an important role in sports talents growth. Different geographical environment makes the Chinese competitive sports development extremely uneven. Therefore it is necessary to study it. So the reliable theoretical basis can be suggested for our competitive sports'development and decision-making.In this paper, the literature data method and mathematical statistics method had been used to analysis the regional distribution characteristics of Chinese Olympic medal winners, total of 485 athletes from 1984 Olympic Games.The statistics results showed that number of athletes who win the Olympic medal increase year by year indicating that the level of competitive sports of China has been greatly improved. But the female athletes reached to 68.3% of total number. The sports items win the Olympic medal has been gradually increased, but the development is not balanced, the most medals item is diving,32 Olympic gold medals.Become a world famous athletes must undergo a tough growth process. The athlete's growth process showed a evident age characteristics. The average age of an athlete begin to professional training is 8.7 years. It is about after 12.6 years training a athlete could obtain a Olympic medal. According the statistics of athletes win Olympic medal age found that the number of between ages 20-24 is about 50.4% of total number.The distribution of Olympic medal winner has obvious geographical characteristic in China. From the administrative region point, the region of largest number of medals and athletes is East China. The number of medal is 198. This result is mainly due to its favorable natural geographical condition and developed economy condition. From the point of economic regionalization, the five provinces in central region become the highest medal number region. The number of medal is 134.China won the Olympic medal in 26 sport items. And athletes of East China region had won in 21 sport items. Followed by the Northeast and north China, the worst is the Northwestern region, only had won medals in 9 projects.
