The globe optical communication market is expected to catch a new round of big development. Optical networks devices is still the major one of the market share of the increased globe optical communication market. To see from the growth, optical communication devices have triggered the whole increased market. Since Optical Communication companies try to enlarge market share and meet new business demand, they continue to improve technology and develop new optical communication modules, which makes product category increased so fast and product segmentation divided more detailed. Because products in this industry are so complicated, BOM structure is to be the core to distinguish the varied product. BOM is the basis for the companies to organize volume production of optical communication modules. Therefore, for each optical enterprise, whether BOM structure is adapted to operation system is the key factor to be concerned.The article is based on project management theories, mixed up my years of experiences on project management in optical module enterprise, and it used Fiberxon BOM restructured project as a case to study how project scope and communication is managed and controlled to drive project success from project manager's point of view. By deep study and analysis on methodology of project management applied on this project, we hope to dig out how methodology of project management is applied on project scope and communication management on BOM restructured project. Hope experiences and lessons that we have achieved in this project can be summed up and used on other similar projects in future.
