Industry Clusters And Economic Growth

Since reformation and opening, especially in recent years, industrial cluster has been becoming an important form of industrial organization and carrier of regional economy development in our country. With implementation of state area development strategy as a whole and acceleration of regional economy structure adjusting step, at present, industrial cluster in east coastal region has accounted for 50% of industrial added value of this area; also industrial cluster in central and western region develops rapidly. In the meanwhile, industrial cluster covers most of traditional industries, including textile, clothing, leather, hardware, industrial arts etc; on the other hand, industrial cluster development in innovative and high technology industries, such as IT, biological engineering, new material and cultural and creative industry is accelerated with a number of leading enterprises and regional brands.By combining the reality of industrial cluster development in Yunnan province, the paper discusses the problem on two aspects of theory and demonstration respectively. On theoretical analysis side, the paper summarizes main factors by which industrial cluster promoting economic development based on understanding of existing research findings; on empirical analysis side, the paper calculates locational quotient results of 31 industries in 5 years in Yunnan province, and builds model under direction of cluster theory frame of Marshall, as well analyses the driving effect of three industries cluster to economic development in Yunnan, and finally addresses policy and suggestion suitable to Yunnan reality.
