Study On Project Management Of Coal-burning Power Plant Facilities Maintenance

This paper analyzes the project management for machinery overhaul at Yang Zong Hai Power Plant Co., LTD of State Power Grid, known as YZH in short. YZH, a subsidiary of State Power Grid, is a coal-burning power generation plant, located at east of Kunming city, Yunnan provice.The project management for machinery overhaul at power plant is complex with many activities should be coordinated in terms of time, cost, and quality. With the intense of the competition, YZH should provide good service to customers and meet their requirements by enhancing management, offering high reliability product and cutting cost. A number of facets of project management concerning machinery overhaul at the power plant have been discussed based on a thorough situation analyses, then correponding solutions are given accordingly, in which quality, time and cost are greatly highlighted. A case analysis is offered in this paper to demonstrate how a practical means called "project based management" and its process were initiated and introduced at YZH to deal with the B class overhaul for 2# generator. By adopting this innovative project management method, desired results were achieved with time duration shorten, quality improved and cost cut at YZH in its machinery overhaul project management.This paper combines theories and practices showing how the project management for machinery overhaul was conducted at YZH. The paper itself can serve as a referential material for power plants in their machinery overhaul process.
