China Netcom Group Corporation Limited has been incorporated into China Unicom Limited, creating the new China Unicom Limited under the telecom restructuring in 2008. For the new China Unicom, how to make full use of technological advantages of WCDMA and the broadband brand superiority? Of course, team coherence and execution are key factors for the company to win the competition.A team is a group of people working together towards a common goal. Team building emphasizes on the overall effect, and team spirit and power promote the company's sustainable growth. Obviously, team managing and building are not only winning weapons, but also difficult problems the enterprise have to face.This paper get studies on such relative theoretical knowledge as a team and its goal, organizational structure and design, team performance management, team encouragement, communication at a team, executive power and organizational culture construction. Furthermore, it goes into deep discussion on a series of key factors which determine organizational success, such as the character of an excellent team, organizational goal and objective, organizational structure design, the balance between individual and organizational performance, the creation and implementation of team encouragement, the significance and function of communication, and how to strengthen execution and integrate enterprise culture.Through this paper, the author describes the background and status quo of XL company, and deeply and carefully analyzes the status quo on team building for the restructured new XL Company, then makes the conclusion that there are six major problems about the existing team, e.g. organizational structure, communication and trust, individual and organizational balance, etc. Later, by using some relevant theoretical knowledge about organizational behavior and team building, the author analyzes how do those problems mentioned above come into being, including cultural conflict and unreasonable organizational structure. Then, the author proposes seven corresponding suggestions such as enriching team type, optimizing structure, and improving encouragement.Finally, the author makes a conclusion that building an effective, easy-for-communication and learning-oriented team with strong execution could solve different problems under the telecom restructuring circumstance.
