At the age of network economy, as innovation model evolves from a simple linear mode,interactive model to the network model, requires the enterprise to go from closed innovation to open innovation, the network has become an important environmental characteristics of business innovation. How to cultivate and develop the effective innovation network is of far-reaching significance for our country to build innovative country and enhance the ability of independent innovation. The external network is the source of innovation effect, what characteristics of the network is the effective one to promote the innovation has become an important issues of concern by scholars. However, by combing the literatures, we find that existing studies have the two following deficiencies:First, most research focus on a certain or several network structure characteristics' independent role on innovation performance, no comprehensive study on multi-dimensional, hence, the interaction between network structural characteristics on innovation are ignored. Second, network structure reflect the external innovation environment, its impact on innovation performance is also affected by characteristics of the organization itself, therefore, whether enterprise can effectively create and management the external network, and actively improve the network structure's impact on innovation performance are worth studying. Although some scholars have proposed network competence, but the research on the interaction of network competence and network structure on innovation performance is still very rare.Therefore, this paper based on the interaction of network competence and network embedded perspective, from relationship embedded and structure embedded, selected five dimensions: relationship intensity, relationship quality, network location, network size and network intensity to examine their impacts on innovation and analysis the role of the interaction on innovation between variables of network structural characteristics; and proposed a model about the regulation of network competence between network embedded and innovation performance; used 331 questionnaires and the level of regression analysis to test the theoretical models. The empirical results found that:An effective network structure has significantly, positively effect on innovation performance; Firm network competence positively adjust the relationship between relationship intensity,relationship quality,network position and innovation performance, while it have no conditioning effect on the relationship between network size,network density and innovation performance. Network density negatively adjust the relationship between network relationship intensity,network position and innovation performance.
