City Of Ethics - The Moral Of The City's Character Study

This article is from the perspective of ethics and value philosophy to explore the relevant problems of urban planning and urban construction, and on the basis of the analysis questions to put forward the corresponding solutions actively, i.e., what is a good city, and how to construct a good city. For the city of research, more scholars focus on experience (or facts) analysis and technology (or empirical) research, a research which put the citizen as morality subject and special for them to develop is far from reach consciously, thus this paper attempts to analyze the degree of city from this perspective, and focuses on the value judgment and critical reflection.On research and exploration of urban problems, not only to rely on economic, legal, political various means, and must also resort to ethics. This is because the emergence and development of the city are "human", who is the subject of urban real, so as to guarantee the normal communication between urban subjects and benefit relationship, it must establish and perfect the corresponding ethics rules. Different social and historical conditions have different moral needs, and different social structure also contains different ethical relations; therefore, each period and various forms of urban society also should have corresponding development of ethics. This paper try to expand the urban research with ethics vision, place the moral innovatively to this particular urban social environment, inspected it with the urban characteristic, and as a research object, according to its own characteristics and structural features to study its unique value goal, moral relationships, moral nature, ethics systems, construction ways and approaches.This first chapter of this paper is the introduction section which designs to put forward, and expound the importance and feasibility of the themes and topics.The second chapter of the city and moral to be studied respectively, and then pointed out that since the city as a social system and its internal exist various countless relation, while moral is a kind of originated in social existence development needs, to adjust and security in social economic activities, the cultural industry and interpersonal produced in all social relations of the non-peremptory norms, then, from this sense, the urban society itself need to contain moral character, and this should be in accord with "urban nature".The third chapter stated that the formation and development of city is a historical process, as the different social and historical conditions of the urban social structure, the differences of the urban social in overall social position, the role will be different, thus faced with urban society is not the same ethical issues, problem-solving approach and methods has its own particularity, thus the moral requirements have different from one another. Therefore, this paper studies a selective and targeted discussion in the history of Chinese and western ancient cities, which have the representative and practical significance in the spiritual and cultural characteristics, and outlines some need for ethics value factors from its development, also proved the city is not merely a matter of geographical size and economic strength concept, or the city is not only the human living space, but also should be a way to help human achieve self-improvement of the ethical community.The fourth chapter is mainly to summarize and critique the contemporary "urban disease" and the urban social and moral crisis. Critique is one of the important functions of ethics, causing deep reflection; of the city requires us to have a strong awareness of the problem, it will also inevitably point out and summarize all kinds of crux and problems which exist in reality and may be facing; but "critical" doesn't mean just the issue of complaints and criticism of the city, also doesn't mean our city construction achievements are ignored, but through to the wheat from the chaff, exceed and to explore how to build a better city.The fifth chapter studies the further exploration of these summarized problems in the fourth chapter, while thinking and puts forward the solutions. On the surface, the performance of unhappy city life and the city diseases is due to the environmental degradation, population explosion, lack of resources, etc., but the deeper reason lies in the human heart; in other words, the city had a pathological humanity and moral crisis. Construction of the city ethics should be at least two levels:first, the city manager should focus on public interests and plan the policies which fulfill the moral function of social needs; Second, in the citizens, namely the city level subject of activity has the guidance of the city moral values, ethics identification and moral quality cultivation. In addition, the city morality construction also concerned about the city as a whole, living "soul" and personality and diversity of urban form shape coexistence.
