Innovative Research On. Derivative Third-party Logistics Service

Logistics services industry is playing an increasingly pivotal role in national economic system and the level of logistics services now acts as one of the indicators of a country's modernization level and overall national strength. Currently, the traditional logistics represented by warehousing and transportation show an intense and homogeneous competition, third-party logistics industry has no chose but taking its professional advantages to make innovation.Improving the traditional services level is the basis for derivative services innovation, and product innovation is derived from physical information third-party logistics obtained in the process of providing traditional services.From a third-party logistics provider's perspective, this thesis focuses on three basic directions of innovation, including provision of financial facilities, reducing the transaction costs and other value-added services based on traditional services.In the case analysis part, the thesis presents two typical examples of logistics services innovation, which include the innovation made by a small integrated logistics services supplier in Shanghai and the logistics giant UPS's logistics financial services practice.The small services company integrates the service supply chain to meet the specific demand and form its Core Competence. Its innovations come from the special arrangement of service supply chain and product innovation. According to UPS Logistics financial practices in China, the paper gives detailed analysis of the developments and difficulties UPS encountered in China, under the particular conditions of economical environment and financial supervision. Moreover, the paper gives the opinion on the relationship between finance and logistics in terms of UPS's practice of logistics finance in China market.
