| In global value chains,many industries and enterprises associate inseparably like"a pearl necklace". And many Chinese enterprises have actively and successfully embedded in various chains, but they are entering in low-end segments. Playing a key role in this process, standards have become one of the main tools in managing these global value chains. Therefore, how to improve China's economy and how to upgrade these industries or enterprise through standards have become an urgent task to be realized.Research on the relation between the global value chains and the standards or the industry upgrading under the global value china is the focus for most scholars, but few of them research the relation between standards and industry upgrading, not mention the research method of an empirical study. The paper is attempting to discuss and analyze its relation under the global value chain.The paper, firstly, introduces the background of the topic and its literature review as well as its implications. Next, the paper makes an emphasis on the relation between the global value chain and the standards, takes account of the standards'formation and mechanism, and analyzes the industry upgrading under the global value chain. Through the three aspects mentioned above, the paper reveals the close relation between standards and the industry upgrading and makes an empirical study on industry upgrading through the data of China's automotive industry from 1992-2007.The conclusion shows the fairly close relationship between the standards and industry upgrading that the standards can promote industry development and realize the industry upgrading and in turn strengthen the standardization. The paper also supports that our domestic standards are more beneficial to our automotive industry upgrading than the international standards. In addition, on the basis of the theory and the empirical study, the paper presents some useful suggestions for our automotive industry upgrading from the angle of standards. |
