Foreign Direct Investment And China's Industrial Structure Evolution

Since the reform and opening-up, China's economy has been keeping increasing stably. In this process, the foreign direct investment played a positive role in the economy growth of China. In the initial stages of the reform and opening-up, the foreign direct investment optimized the industrial structure of heavy industry which developed in advance. The entrance of foreign direct investment led the inflow of technology, management, marketing, network and other aspects, inspired the competitive consciousness of domestic enterprises, and also infused new vigor into the economy development. However, attaching importance to quantity and looking down on quality and extensive import of foreign capital investment caused the serious crisis of resources consumption, and China has encountered the sternly challenges of sustainable and stable development. As the fast growth of the national economy and the improvement of people's living standard, it becomes more and more obvious that the changes of industrial structure lagged behind those of demand structure. It becomes more urgent to solve the topic on how to promote the industrial restructuring more effectively by using foreign direct investment.The author started with the process of importing foreign direct investment, summarized the relation between foreign direct investment and industrial structure by using the methods of microscopical and macroscopical analysis together, positive and normative analysis together. In this way, the author tried to find a new way out to promote the conversion of economic growth mode and industrial restructuring by using foreign direct investment, and maximized the effects of foreign direct investment in the crucial period of developing the national economy.
