City Administrative Center Of Change Theory And Empirical Research

Since China's reform and opening up to the outside world, the country entered the rapid development period of urbanization. However, as the capital city of an economic power, the development of Jinan's economic society and urban construction is relatively slow. In the previous and current phase, in order to support the new strategy of urban development, many cities move their administrative center from busy downtown to far suburb and most of them achieved their expectations. Jinan is now moving its administrative center from the city center to east suburb. Does this decision of the government have any theoretical ground? What effect will the move of the administrative center bring to the development of a city? At present, there are very few discussion and research in this field in China. As this is a problem unique to China, it's impossible to find such research in foreign countries. In China, a city's administrative center is the center of politics, economy, culture and business. Its move is closely related with the development of the city. Moreover, China city's development is at a very initial stage and there is still a long way to go. Therefore, it is very necessary to study the move of administrative center. The analysis of these numerous phenomena and the rules therein will provide certain theoretical grounds in promoting city's development.The thesis combines positivist analysis with theoretic analysis. Starting from the successful cases of administrative center's move which promotes the development of a city, the thesis combines relevant theory to analyze and predict the move of Jinan's municipal administrative center to the east suburb.
