Supply Chain Management In The International Auto Companies

The structure of the thesis is as follows. The first chapter introduces the elemental concepts, 3 aspects of the study, objective, core thoughts, model of the thesis, study actuality, the trend of Supply Chain Management (SCM). The second chapter introduces the widely application of SCM in the multinational automotive companies. It analyzes the status quo and trend of the SCM for world automotive industry, the characteristics of the industry, the re-engineering status of the SCM for world automotive industry and the opportunities for Chinese companies. The third chapter uses Daimlerchrysler Automotive Group as an example. It analyzes the strategic reform, application of the IT technology, procurement management of the typical multinational automotive company. The productive materials procurement and non-productive materials procurement procedure was analyzed thoroughly in the aspects of procurement management, operation management, cost saving, finance & control, risk management, efficiency and application of IT technology. The significance for reference on SCM was drawn from the analysis. The fourth chapter analyzes the status quo and the shortcoming of the automotive industry in China. Three main shortcomings are pointed out and proper advices are given regarding to the shortcomings for Chinese automotive companies.
