As a secondary branch of the state-owned commercial bank—Bank of China , Yunanbranch has undergone more than seventeen years' journey in some city of southern Henan. In these surroundings, Yunan branch has experienced deepening reform and development of China's economic system reform, especially profound changes of competition pattern of China's financial industy.Now, Yunan branch has become a bank which has considerable funds, good balancing channel for both home and foreign currency, universal functions, good reputation and performance ,and playing an important role in supporting economic development in some city of southern Henan, but there also exist many internal problems, for example, the outdated operating concepts, many redundant employees ,bad assets that faces rebounding, the way of growth that needs improving and the core competencies that needs strengthening. With foreign banks in early 2007 being officially launched RMB business, and the intensity of competition being strengthened in Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China , China Construction Bank and other financial institutions , the internal and external environment Yunan branch facing are undergoing profound changes, business development competition are also facing with more and more challenges. So it is quite necessary to analyze and assess the competitive pattern of our bank and formulate corresponding competition and development strategy to lead our bank to healthy development and further success.This article is divided into six chapters ,the first is the internal and external environment analysis, it discusses competitive strategy framework including the guiding ideology, strategic positioning and the strategic goals of competition to achieve in Yunan branch, in order to achieve the development vision and core values of Yunan branch, it comes up with corresponding measures to achieve the competitive strategy goal.The main body of this article is mainly to adopt analysis method from the exterior to the interior ,it focuses on SWOT analysis ofYunan branch's competitive strategy, and reaches the final conclusion. The introduction part mainly introduces the writing foundation and related theories of the article, the following is the external environment analysis, first begins with the national macro environment analysis, we can know that the overall economy growth basically shows a good trend. According to the "Basel Agreement", it should be said that each financial institution's operation is gradually conforming with norms, disorderly competitions such as driving up interest rates reduce. In this context, I also comprehensively analyze the existing widespread problems in its own asset structure and profitability of China's banking. Finally I analyze resource advantages and area superiority , geographical features ,banking competition pattern and risk condition of each bank in. Basically, we can get a summary, that is, the macroeconomic situation is good, but because of limited economic condition of some city of southern Henan, Yunan branch has not much room for profit.Based on the above basic conclusion, I emphasize on analyzing internal process design, institutional framework of organization and management, the structure of assets and liabilities, and profitability, it shows that although the old state-owned bank is transformed into a joint-stock bank, it is still comparatively backward in technology, management structure and other aspects.The last part is the SWOT matrix analysis of competitive advantages and disadvantages of Yunan branch, and from it we can obtain its competition strategy pattern choice, what is followed is the implementation of the competition stfategy ,and finally I come up with the conclusion of the article.
