"11th Five-year" During The Construction Of Thermal Power Prospects

As we know, the world is now facing two serious issues: one is the shortage of energy and the other is the worsening condition of global environment. As a result, energy has become a critical factor handicapping the normal functioning of society and the healthy development of social economy. How to solve this issue, therefore, has turned out to be one of the most important issues related to the development of national economy, the living conditions of the people, social stability, as well as national security.In this thesis, the prospect of the power industry is anticipated through analysis of the nation-wide systematic reform, the problems and difficulties we have encountered in the process of reform, and national energy development strategy and policies. The necessity of reforming medium/small size thermal power stations while building large scale thermal power stations is analyzed from three aspects: First, the formation of the existing natural resources in China. Second, the existing environmental pollutions and energy consumption issue related to thermal power plant. Third, the analysis of economic investment and relevant risks is carried out to prove, from technical and theoretical angles, the great need of developing thermal power stations in future. It is suggested that we should reform medium/small size thermal power stations, and we should build large scale thermal power stations to achieve a good combination of coal resource and power production. It is also pointed out that construction of thermal power stations will not only help the combination of coal resource and power production, but also help satisfy the growing demand of electricity either for the development of national economy or people's daily lives.Finally, through analysis of the future trend of thermal power station development in China, it is concluded that during the Eleventh Five-year Period we should close or reform medium/small size thermal power stations which are found out to have serious pollution problems, and develop large scale thermal power stations.
