The Manufacturing industry of Midwest develops slowly and disperses. In thesesituations, it is necessary to study the Competitiveness of Industries of ManufacturingIndustry. As a coastal area of early implementation of reform and opening area, thePearl River Delta has not only Location advantage closing up with Hong Kong andMacau in region, but also has advantages on the economic policy and regulationenvironment. Manufacturing Industry has characteristic in development model.Studying the competitiveness of manufacturing Industry has some referencesignificance for industry development and economic structure of china.This article mainly uses theory analysis and empiric analysis. The theory analysisexpounds the theoretic basis of competitiveness of industry, and the estimate model,including the Theory of Comparative Advantage and the Theory of ConvergenceAdvantage, and according as these theories, we analyze the character and the hiddentrouble of the industry development of manufacturing Industry. On empiric analysiswe regard Pearl River Delta as the study region and the twenty-eight industries ofmanufacturing industry as research object. I have done research on thecompetitiveness of manufacturing industry in Pearl River Delta by using FactorAnalysis on the basis of study on the industrial competitiveness of overseas anddomestic experts and the current development of manufacturing industry in PearlRiver Delta. We discover competitor advantage of tradition manufacturing industry islosing gradually. Concretely speaking, the industrials of Capital-Intensity and Tech-Intensity such as Petroleum Processing, Manufactures of Measuring instruments,Transport equipment and Electronic equipment etc have Competitive Advantages. Theindustrials of Labor-Intensity such as manufactures of Beverages and Foods havesome advantages, but the manufactures of Textile and Wearing apparel have noCompetitive Advantages. The industrials of Resource-Intensity such as manufacturesof Non-metallic products, Smelting and Pressing of ferrous metals have missedCompetitive Advantages. High-tech industries such as automobile, electronicinformation, medicine have earned valid competitive advantages. And put forward themeasures and countermeasures of how to step up the industries competitiveness ofmanufacturing industry of Pearl River Delta. The thesis is divided into six parts. The third part sets up an index system and an evaluation model ofmanufacturing industries competitiveness of Pearl River Delta. The fourth part is theevaluation of the competitiveness of manufacturing industry, and analyzes thesituation of the competitiveness and the reasons. The fifth part puts forward thecorrelative measures and countermeasures in accordance with the front parts research.The last part is conclusion and ponderings.
